  2. Flourishing Frida

Viva La Vida story starring model Agnes Sokolowska as Frida Kahlo for Amica magazine.  I have to admit, I thought I made a killer Frida for Halloween but this shoot absolutely upstages my outfit.  I especially love how they managed to mimic several of her portraits…bravo!

Erik Madigan Heck photographed Etro’s Spring/Summer 2013 women’s collection, and the results are nothing short of magical.  Blurring the line between painting and photography, his images are full of vivid, saturated colors and showcase a whimsical yet powerful woman decked in Etro

  8. Agnes Denes’s Wheat Field in Manhattan’s Battery Park landfill

I stumbled across this post and couldn’t help but share.  Can you imagine downtown New York covered in wheat?  It’s certainly a stark contrast to what Battery Park is today.

”After months of preparations, in May 1982, a 2-acre wheat field was planted on a landfill in lower Manhattan, two blocks from Wall Street and the World Trade Center, facing the Statue of Liberty. Planting and harvesting a field of wheat on land worth $4.5 billion created a powerful paradox. Wheatfield was a symbol, a universal concept; it represented food, energy, commerce, world trade, and economics. It referred to mismanagement, waste, world hunger and ecological concerns. It called attention to our misplaced priorities. The harvested grain traveled to twenty-eight cities around the world in an exhibition called “The International Art Show for the End of World Hunger”, organized by the Minnesota Museum of Art (1987-90). The seeds were carried away by people who planted them in many parts of the globe.”

  9. Sheer Insanity

I’m still enamored with the Dries van Noten S/S 2013 collection! It’s so lovely and all sheer plaid pieces are perfect for spring.  Editorial from Elle Sweden via Le Fashion Image
